Everything seems to be clicking nicely for the Yakima Valley volleyball team, which earned its third consecutive sweep on Friday, defeating Walla Walla 25-8, 25-22, 25-11 at home. The Yaks have now won three matches in a row and 10 of their past 11 to claim sole possession of second place in the NWAC East.
YVC relied on a balanced effort at the net to defeat the Warriors, with
Ava Swan throwing down seven kills to lead the way.
Lauren Chamberlain converted six kills,
Ailianna Quaempts had five and
Patricia Hendrick had four as the Yaks posted a .173 kill percentage.
Joleen Jaeger delivered 18 assists and eight digs, while
Kamree Mills led the defense with 22 digs.
Malia Wheeler also helped the defensive cause with eight digs and
Aubrey Tornow had six.
Sienna Black,
Addison Berrett and
Mikayla Christiansen also got in on the action, each with a pair of kills.
Now 9-1 in conference play (21-8 overall), YVC will host last-place Wenatchee on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Blue Mountain on Friday. The Yaks will wrap up the regular season the following week with a trip to Columbia Basin on Nov. 5 and a rematch with first-place Treasure Valley at home on Nov. 7.
