The Yakima Valley volleyball team is absolutely on fire over the past month, winning 12 of its past 13 matches — the last five in straight sets. With two conference matches remaining this week, the Yaks have already locked up a playoff berth and still have a chance at the top seed in the NWAC East when they host first-place Treasure Valley on Friday night.
YVC cruised to two easy victories last week, defeating Wenatchee at home and Blue Mountain on the road. In the 25-16, 25-16, 25-12 win over Wenatchee on Oct. 29,
Ava Swan sent home 12 kills and
Lauren Chamberlain added 11 as the Yaks posted a .330 kill percentage.
Ailianna Quaempts posted six kills and
Patricia Hendrick had five, while
Joleen Jaeger delivered 28 assists.
Kamree Mills led the defense with 11 digs, Hendrick added eight and
Keegan Fernandez had seven.
On Halloween night at Blue Mountain, the Yaks put a scare into the Timberwolves, earning a 25-8, 25-18, 25-18 sweep. Swan posted 11 kills, Hendrick had 10 and Quaempts had six as YVC recorded a .229 kill percentage. Jaeger offered up 29 assists, Chamberlain had five kills and Hendrick completed a double-double with 14 digs.
Aubrey Tornow scooped a team-high 16 digs, while Mills had 11 and

The Yaks (11-1 league, 22-8 overall) travel to Columbia Basin on Wednesday before hosting league-leading Treasure Valley on Friday in a match that could determine the East's top seed heading into the NWAC Championships. The Chukars prevailed in the first meeting, earning a three-set sweep.
