Cash Ulrich enters his seventh season with the Yaks as the Associate Head Coach in the 2021-22 academic year.
Ulrich joined the Yaks in the summer of 2015 and was a key part of the staff for the 2016 NWAC Championship campaign. While Coach Ulrich primarily works with the Yaks' Infielders and Base Running, he is also heavily involved with Mental Skill development and in the Weight Room. Ulrich takes pride in player development on and off the field as he is also the Advisor and helped start the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Club on the YVC campus. Ulrich and Head Coach Kyle Krustangel have been a dynamic duo in Yakima as the combo has won 173 games and moved on over 100 players during their tenure at Yakima Valley College.Â
In addition to his YVC duties, Ulrich has teamed up with Krustangel in the highly regarded WCL on the coaching staffs of the Yakima Valley Pippins (2020 - present) and on the Wenatchee Apple Sox (2017-19).
Ulrich attended Gonzaga Prep High School in Spokane, WA where he played three years of Varsity Baseball and Hockey for the Spokane Braves Junior B team in the KIJHL. After high school Ulrich turned down a baseball/hockey combo offer at NCAA Division III St. Olaf College in Minnesota to stay closer to home and attend Eastern Washington University. Cash played four years of club hockey at EWU, leading the team to two National Tournament appearances before entering the Canadian BCIHL. While playing hockey at EWU, Ulrich started his baseball coaching career where he headed the club baseball program for four years. During this time, he also coached freshman baseball at Gonzaga Prep, learning under the tutelage former big leaguer Brian Munhal. Ulrich Coached the Gonzaga Prep A Legion, AA Legion and capped off his Legion experience as head coach of the Spokane Bandits in 2016.Â
Ulrich earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Eastern Washington University and currently resides in Terrace Heights with his wife Katelin.
