Akil White

Position: Assistant Coach
Alma Mater: Central Washington University (BA)

Akil White has been on Coach Strom’s staff for the past three years.  During this time, he has taken the lead on recruiting duties and responsibilities.

Akil graduated from Olympic High School in Silverdale, WA where he was a three-sport athlete, playing basketball, football and running track. He went on to play football at Central Washington University for parts of one season and graduated from CWU with a degree in Finance and Economics.  

From 2005 to 2014 Akil was the head girls basketball coach at Toppenish High School, where he won 100 games and took the Wildcats to the postseason in multiple seasons.  Before Akil took over, the Wildcats had not had a winning season since 1998 and had not qualified for the postseason in nine years.
  
Akil has also been involved with the High Definition basketball girls club team for the past seven years.  During his tenure, Akil has coached their U14, U15, and U17 teams.  The 2001 age group squad that he coached was nationally ranked for several years and won multiple high profile tournaments including the Adidas 3 Stripes Tournament in Phoenix, AZ and the prestigious End of Trail Tournament  in Oregon City, OR. 
 
Akil is married to his wife Gloria and together they have two daughters, Tatiana and Talina.
