The Yakima Valley men's basketball team finally found the win column on Saturday after an 0-3 start to the preseason, defeating Olympic 78-69 in the second game of the Sasquatch Classic in Spokane.

Kal-El Gentles posted 25 points, 15 rebounds and four steals, and Shane Rivera added 20 points, seven rebounds and three assists as the Yaks took a five-point halftime lead. Cesar Hernandez scored 19 points to go with five rebounds, four assists and two blocks, while Koby McClure added nine points.

It didn't take long for the Yaks to make it two wins in a row by taking down Linn-Benton 88-79 on Sunday. Hernandez guided the offense with 30 points, Gentles put up 16 points and 16 rebounds, and Rivera recorded 10 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Marcelino Armendariz added 14 points, three assists and two steals off the bench, and McClure tallied six points, six rebounds and four assists.

YVC began the Sasquatch Classic with a 73-70 loss to Everett despite shooting 55.6% (25-of-45) from the floor. Hernandez scored a team-high 19 points, making 6-of-10 from long range, while McClure added 13 points, five rebounds and four assists. Gentles posted 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Rivera delivered 10 points and five rebounds in a losing effort.

The Yaks (2-3 overall) will host three games this week, starting with Grays Harbor on Thursday. Linn-Benton will visit Saturday, followed by Bellevue on Saturday.
