Yakima Valley's run toward a third consecutive trophy finish at the NWAC Volleyball Championships ended in one-and-done fashion on Friday with a 25-17, 25-23, 15-25, 25-15 loss to Edmonds in the Elite 8.

After dropping the first set, the Yaks — who finished third the past two years — narrowly captured the second set before cruising to an easy win in the third. But the powerful front line of the Tritons proved to be too much to overcome in the decisive fourth set.

Coach
Darci Dekker's team finished the season at 27-10 overall and will be returning about half of the roster. Seven sophomores played their final game for the Yaks:
Mikayla Christiansen, Patricia (Tia) Hendrick, Quaempts, Jaeger, Black and Tornow.Â
Jaeger, Mills and Swan each earned first-team all-conference honors and Chamberlain was named to the third team for the NWAC East co-champions.

East rival Treasure Valley went on to win the NWAC championship Sunday, defeating Bellevue in five sets (22-25, 25-18, 16-25, 25-23, 15-6). Edmonds finished third by sweeping Rogue, 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 earlier in the day.
