It was another solid weekend for the YVC volleyball team, which won three of four matches Sept. 4-5 at the Coach G Memorial Invite at Columbia Basin College. With victories over Everett, Centralia and Rogue, the Yaks improved to 11-3 in the preseason, with one more pre-season tournament left before NWAC East play gets underway next week.
 

In the tournament opener, YVC dropped the first set against Everett before going on to win 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 25-17. Lauren Chamberlain led the offense with 12 kills, while three others — Alivia Colbert, Lauren Jensen and Vilomena Cavuilati — throwing down eight kills apiece. Aydyn Anderson notched a double-double with 20 assists and 12 digs, Malia Wheeler served up 20 assists and Kamree Mills posted a team-high 18 digs.
 

Later in the day, the Yaks held off Linn-Benton in the first set and rallied to win the fourth set, but ultimately fell 27-29, 25-16, 25-23, 27-29, 15-6. Chamberlain and Colbert guided the offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while Mills posted 23 digs to lead five Yaks in double-digits. Wheeler put up 23 assists and 18 digs, Anderson had 16 assists, 14 digs and six kills, and Jensen added seven kills. Portlynn Stacey got into the mix with six kills and two blocked shots, while Colbert contributed 15 digs and Cavuilati had 13.
 

YVC came back strong Saturday morning with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-20 sweep of Centralia. Colbert posted a team-high seven kills, Jensen had six and Anderson had five, to go with eight assists and eight digs. Wheeler delivered 15 assists and eight digs, Mireya Kawaguchi had a team-high 12 digs, Mills added 10 digs, and Stacey recorded six blocks.
 

The tournament concluded with a 25-23, 20-25, 28-26, 25-21 win over Rogue. Chamberlain threw down 17 kills and Colbert had 14, with both players recording 36 net attacks on the afternoon. Anderson put up 23 assists, 13 digs and eight kills, Wheeler had 21 assists and 17 digs, Jensen added nine kills, and Mills recorded a team-high 18 digs.
 

Prior to the trip over to CBC, the Yaks hosted Skagit Valley on Sept. 3 and earned a 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 25-15 victory at Shearer Gym. Chamberlain and Colbert each posted 10 kills, while Jensen, Stacey and Cavuilati added six kills apiece to lead the offense. Wheeler delivered 23 assists and 12 digs, Mills had a team-high 16 digs, and Anderson added 15 assists.
 

YVC will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Bellevue Crossover before starting conference play Sept. 18 at Walla Walla.
