The Yakima Valley softball team couldn't get much offense going in the NWAC Championships last Thursday, dropping both of their games to Everett and Lower Columbia.
In the opener against eventual runner-up Everett, the Yaks recorded just four hits and fell 5-1. Everett scored four runs in the second off starter
Glory Estabrook before adding an insurance run in the sixth. YVC scored its lone run in the fourth on an RBI single by
Linnea Butler, who brought home
Kylee Bradley. Estabrook struck out seven and allowed seven hits and two earned runs over six innings. Butler finished 2-for-3 at the plate, while
Abbygale Sheridan and
Bailee Hancock also recorded singles.
The loss dropped the Yaks to a loser-out matchup with Lower Columbia on Thursday afternoon, and their season ultimately ended with a 7-0 defeat. The Red Devils scored three runs in the third off starter
Briley Ingram and added four more in the fourth off Estabrook, outhitting YVC 13-2 on the afternoon. Ingram allowed three earned runs and six hits in three innings and Estabrook gave up four earned runs and seven hits over the final three frames. Bradley hit a double and
Emma Stamp delivered a single to account for the Yaks' only two hits.
YVC finished the season at 19-19 overall, dropping their final seven games of the season after a seven-game winning streak in late April and early May.
