The Yakima Valley soccer team came back twice on the road Wednesday to earn a 2-2 draw at Blue Mountain.
Â
The Timberwolves started the scoring in the 32nd minute before YVC's
Addie Messner answered with an unassisted tally right before halftime. Blue Mountain regained the lead just three minutes into the second half, but the Yaks drew even in the 55th minute on an unassisted strike by
Esperanza Haro.
Â
Haro, one of just a handful of returning starters this season, led the offense with eight shots, including four on frame. Messner and
Nataly Pacheco fired two shots apiece as the Yaks matched the Timberwolves with 14 for the game. YVC goalkeeper Caitlin Tobin snagged five saves to help the Yaks earn their first point in NWAC East play after dropping their conference opener 6-0 to Walla Walla on Saturday.
Â
The Warriors scored three goals in each half and limited the YVC offense to nine total shots on the afternoon. Pacheco and Messner each recorded three, while Haro had two and
Esmeralda Ramos one. Goalkeeper
Alexis Hagemann defended 19 shots on goal, picking up 13 saves.
Â
The Yaks (0-3-1 overall, 0-1-1) will take on last-place Wenatchee at home on Saturday before welcoming Treasure Valley to town on Sept. 23.
