Athlete 1979-1981

An Eisenhower graduate and three-sport standout in high school, Rhea was the first two-time recipient of YVC’s female athlete of the year award and lettered in volleyball, basketball and track and field in 1979-80 and 1980-81.

As a freshman, Rhea led the East Region in rebounding as a 5-11 forward and in the spring set a school record in the javelin at 139 feet, 3 inches with a runner-up finish in the NWAC championships. Rhea started her sophomore year with All-East honors in volleyball, leading the team in kills and blocks, and then duplicated the honors in basketball, where her all-tournament performance led YVC to sixth place at the NWAC tournament to cap Hall of Famer Ellwood Crosier’s first season leading the women’s program. She wrapped up her sophomore year with another NWAC medal in the javelin. Rhea returned as an assistant coach with Crosier in basketball.
