Yakima Valley College Athletics

 
Known as the ‘physical fitness’ President of the community college ranks, Dr. Terry Brown believes in the value of athletics in higher education and the quality of life that comes as a result of exercise and wellness training.  During his four years as president of Yakima Valley College, Dr. Brown was a virtual welcoming committee for students as he would regularly be seen jogging around campus by 7:00 AM.  Dr. Brown was a fixture on the sidelines of most sport contests offered by YVC, often mistaken to be an assistant coach or athletic trainer by game officials.  During his tenure at YVC, Dr. Brown was instrumental in helping to bring seven colleges from the Oregon Community College Athletic Association into the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges in 1983 and in the creation of the YVC Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.  In 1998, he was inducted into the NWAC Hall of Fame.
